First brewed as a seasonal beer in 1913 but brewed year-round by 1978. Roasted malts impart color and mild roasted flavor. This extremely drinkable American style Dark Lager is lightly hopped so that the malt profile predominates. Medium brown color with a slightly sweet finish. The Bock style originated in the city of Einbeck Germany but became Eine Bock in the Bavarian dialect. Bock in German is a ram or goat. Czech Saaz and Styrian Golding hops are added late in the kettle boil to preserve noble hop aromas, subdue bitterness, and balance the 2-row barley malt sweetness. Belgian Special Crystal and De-Bittered Black Malts contribute roasted caramel, raisin, and coffee flavors, and a deep ruby to garnet highlight that approaches full black with a creamy tan head. Medium bodied, surprisingly soft, and smooth with a crisp dry finish.
